- UART is an acronym for "Universal Asynchronous Reciever Transmitter".
- It takes the parallel data bits from your computers bus and puts them
- in series for transmission via your serial port. It takes the serial
- data bits from the serial port and puts them in parallel for your
- computer bus. All that to say it converts data from serial to parallel.
- It also controls the speed of the port.
